Georgina Spring Fling Returns – Bigger and Better

The fourth annual Georgina Spring Fling Marathon & Half-Marathon, 10k and 5k running race takes place on Sunday, May 4th in Georgina.

Starting from De La Salle Park at 7:30 am, more than 1300 runners will be heading westbound along Lake Simcoe to test their legs on this fast and flat course.

“This race has become popular as an early season Boston qualifier,” says co-race director Cindy Lewis-Caballero. “We have adjusted the start and finish line to accommodate the number of athletes on the course.”

The largest group in this race by far is the half-marathon (21.1km) distance, which will see over 600 runners participate. Runners will follow Lake Drive westbound out and back from De La Salle Park. The fast, flat, and scenic course is professionally measured and the marathon, half-marathon and 10k courses are certified with Athletics Ontario.

“This year we are putting the focus on the post-race celebration in the park, with live music provided by local band, Fat Cat Jamboree,” adds co-race director Sandie Orlando. “We also welcome back Dan Pollard of 93.7 K-Country, with a live broadcast from the park.”

Adding to the fun will be coffee from The Wandering Bean and a post-recovery experience by Cool Dip Recovery and by Platinum Massage of Keswick. Athletic Brewing and Costco will be offering some post-race refreshments, and Gatorade returns to keep athletes hydrated on the course.

Athletes will be picking up their race kits on Saturday, May 3rd at The Briars Resort & Spa. The Town of Georgina continues to support Endurance Event Productions in bringing athletes to the area each spring and fall for their races. Accommodations at The Briars, Ramada Inn, and Jackson’s Point Retreat and Conference Centre are sold out.

Volunteers are welcome to help keep everyone safe. More information can be found at https://enduranceeventproductions.com/events/spring-fling-1-2-10km-5km/
